I woke up. As usual, I had a breakfast and went to school. After a busy day, I couldn’t wait to go home. I was at home at the end. After a nice meal, I turned on the TV for news. I learned from news that Kordon is approaching. Duygu said that she heard from both TV and radio that tornado’s situation. While I was watching TV, I heard which settlements could receive under the influence. Alsancak, the state of the city of İzmir became a very bad influence from the moment the work of draining the city was started. The city is below sea level, so it was under dangerous. Anyone who had car began to abandon the city. We stayed at home and we called Halil for help because we were afraid. We were panic. We didn’t know what to do. In a shopping center, crowds and confusion emerged. Object of the us was to handle the water during a hurricane, candle, lantern, and to take some food items. We started making preparations. We filled with water buckets and bothtubs in order to take precautions against the possible failure of water. We were all ready for tornado and we started to wait.
We started to see effects of Kordon tornado. We had been at home four girl and one boy. Until electricity and phone were disconnected, we were constantly followed the route of Kordon on the internet and were reading the latest news. The air began to blow. We were tired and we decided to go to bed. When we woke up, the severity of the wind and the smell of the air began to change. When we looked out the window, there was no one outside. The streets seemes deserted. There was no other choice but to wait. Evening was again. Wind continued to blow strongly. We all began to slumber. And we woke up with the sound of a heavy rain. Tree branches literally thrown out and the rain was washing the city. I previously hadn’t heard a sound so loud. I had never known anything like this before. Duygu started to cry. We are screaming. Halil was coldblooded. When Merve looked the computer to check for the latest news, she saw that the computer was off. When we looked outside, we saw that electricity of the city was cut off. Everywhere was dark. There was no lightning in another light. Tornado started with all the intensity. The sounds of demolition were coming from far away. As if everything was destroyed. We had a slight earthquake but we very scared. Merve couldn’t take it. She passed out. We were worried. In that chaos, Merve’s situation was too bad. Afra performed first-aid to Merve. Fortunately, Merve came to herself. Our experience was as if it was like a nightmare. But it wasn’t. Air slowly began to calm down and we all took a deep breath. Everything started to improve. After a while, electricty came. We opened the TV to find out what was going on. All the city roads were closed. Tornado destroyed many houses and roads. A lot of people taken to the hospital. Two days holiday was given to schools. During tornado, demolition was very intense. All the city experienced confusion and crowds. The day after tornado, azure sky and the air was hot as usual. It seemed as if nothing happened.
Here or somewhere else disaster can happen to men of all kinds. It is important to get over with the least damage to life. Everything will be okay. We hope this. This tornado is our the first and the last experience.
